Hotel San Sebastian Playa ****

Situated practically on the beach in one of the most sort after and privileged areas of Sitges the Hotel San Sebastian Playa commands some magnificent views of the Mediterranean and the rest of the town. Although it is only 100 metres or so from the historical and commercial centre, it enjoys one of the most tranquil zones of the town. A short walk will take you to the old town, which in turn leads to the Boulevard and all the best shops, which has made it a world-level reference. A relatively small hotel that relies on a high quality of service and detail, there are 48 double rooms, all external and with balcony. Facilities include satellite TV, Internet ADSL connection, individual climate control, piped music, bathrobe, hairdryer, mini bar and safe. Without doubt the atmosphere is warm and relaxed, the rooms spacious and comfortable, the decor soft, exquisite and cosy, and the attention constant and personalised. To relax there is a beautiful garden to stroll around with tropical vegetation and jacuzzi to take a dip in. The restaurant 'La Concha' is locally famous for it's fish dishes with fresh fish coming locally from Vilanova. The Sitges 'Terremar Golf Club' is a stones throw away and there are more quality courses not too distant.

Hotel Estela Barcelona****(The Hotel of Art)

If you are looking for something a little different and you like art then this is the place for you. The Hotel Estela Barcelona is located on the outskirts of Sitges at the entrance to the Aiguadolç Port and overlooking a beautiful little bay. As you enter the reception hall area it is immediately apparent that this is no ordinary hotel. Josep Mª Subirachs, a highly reputed artist who is working on the facade of Gaudi's Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, has converted this space into the scenario of the descent from infinity to earth. The hotel has 57 spacious rooms and all are decorated differently by various artists, even down to the sheets and towels in some cases, dreary it certainly isn't. 48 are doubles and 9 are suites, all have sea views and come with the most modern technology. In the restaurant 'Iris' you will find yourself sampling an exquisite choice of freshly made Mediterranean dishes in a creative and welcoming setting. The hotel has lovely gardens and large terrace, which are complemented by two swimming pools and various sculptures. Besides high quality golf there are nautical sports in the marina and on the nearby beaches and an active nightlife in the town.

Ritz-Carlton, Hotel Arts Barcelona*****

Originally built for the Barcelona Olympic Games, The Hotel Arts Barcelona is a stunning landmark on the skyline of Catalonia's historic capital. It commands some stunning views over the Mediterranean, the Port area and the city. The interior is surprisingly modern and there are beautiful pieces of artwork in all the bedrooms and public areas, all original and all by Spanish artists. The spacious and attractive guest rooms are decorated in beige and have marble bathrooms with separate sit down showers and twin sinks, Frette terry bathrobes, Belgian towels and in the room itself Bang &Olufsen music centre. The best of the accommodation is on the top floors, where the Penthouse duplex apartments are located. These are decorated with walnut furniture, have a full Bang & Olufsen entertainment centre hidden behind an ingenious sliding door, granite counters and espresso machine. The dining seats eight and there is a circular stairway leading up to the master bedroom and marble bath. These apartments were originally used for visiting royalty and heads of state. The Newport Room offers first class dining and Goyescas is a casual tapas spot. Outside, the spaces are beautifully arranged with a series of terraces on different levels, on one a plunge pool, on another a swimming pool and on another, a lunch and brunch bar, all shaded with tropical plants and cooled by a fountain where the water falls to a well below. This is without doubt the finest hotel in Barcelona and one which will leave a lasting memory with anyone.
