Emporda Golf Resort welcomes 2021 with a refreshing and exciting uplift.

Club de Golf Emporda first opened its doors to golfers in 1990 as a 27 hole complex, later an extra 9 holes was added, together with an onsite hotel in the spectacular Emporda area of the Costa Brava. The complex is bordered on one side by some quaint and very charming medieval villages such as Pals with an array of restaurants to die for and on the other by the rice growing wetlands of ‘Basses d’en Coll’ which borders some of the finest beaches in the Costa Brava.

The new face of the Emporda Golf Resort was unveiled after the long-awaited reopening of its newly remodelled 86-room hotel, in July 2020 for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic after an extensive six-month renovation. The interior of the hotel was given a new contemporary look by the interior design specialists of Lagranja, revealing a new and elegant concept throughout.

The refurbishment of the 86-room hotel is part of a major overhaul of all facilities at the Emporda Golf Resort by its new team of owners and managers, with its two 18-hole championship golf courses and a number of leisure facilities also being the subject of major updates.

As part of the extensive renovation plans, both the Links & Forest golf courses, both designed by world-renowned architect Robert von Hagge, are being the subject of significant investments to elevate the golf experience offered to members and guests, and work is underway that includes the rebuilding all bunkers using the “Better Billy Bunker” method, a comprehensive tree clearing program, and buying new greenkeeping equipment to improve the overall condition of the tees, fairways, and greens.

Players will also enjoy an enhanced experience in the newly redesigned and spectacular clubhouse, which includes a new concept of restaurant, the ‘Terra Verda’ and shop specializing in golf.

Usually located among the best golf courses in Spain, Emporda Golf Club offers 36 holes in two golf courses. This was the first project by the architect Robert Von Haage in Spain and both courses present distinctive characteristics, requiring golfers to play a variety of shots and techniques to overcome the challenge posed.

Reminiscent of many courses in the UK and Ireland, the Links course at Emporda moves between dunes, lakes and strategically located bunkers throughout its 18 holes. This year it is also home to the European Tour Qualifying School.

In contrast, the Forest course winds through pines and lakes and is characterised by a more Mediterranean air, which offers welcome protection on windy days. Emporda throughout the years has been host to various International tournaments.

Besides its magnificent golf facilities, Emporda Golf Club is an ideal base in which to visit one of the most beautiful regions in Spain, the Costa Brava or Wild Coast. Numerous activities in the area include, the wineries of Emporda, canoeing, cycling, hot air ballooning, visiting the Dali museum in Figueres or the medieval capital of the area, Girona.

Overall the Emporda Golf Resort offers the complete golf package in an incredible area of outstanding natural beauty, superb quality at an affordable price.
